The Impermanence Of Things (in production)

A documentary film and transmedia narrative exploring Newar Buddhism and the timeless teachings of paubha paintings in contemporary Kathmandu Valley, Nepal.

This collaborative project by filmmaker Eric Hillenbrand and PhD candidate Andrea Wollein (Buddhist Studies, University of Toronto) examines the intersection of faith, culture, and art through the lens of Newar Buddhism, a unique and vibrant tradition that has flourished in Kathmandu Valley for centuries.

The project features interviews with Buddhist scholars, artists, and community members, as well as stunning perspectives of Kathmandu's sacred sites and vibrant paubha paintings. The transmedia narrative offers viewers a deeper understanding of Newar Buddhism and its rich cultural heritage through interactive experiences, non-linear transmedia narration, and educational resources.

The Impermanence of Things sheds light on a unique and underrepresented Buddhist tradition, celebrating the human spirit in the face of change.
